A. Wendel Stout, III is a partner in the firm and is co-chair of the Toxic Tort & Environmental Department. His practice includes insurance defense and general litigation in the areas of products liability, toxic torts and maritime personal injury. The defense of long-term latent disease personal injury and death claims involving silicosis or asbestosis currently constitutes the bulk of his practice. He also has experience in defending against asbestos property damage and building abatement claims.
Mr. Stout has served as court-appointed defense liaison for defendant groups in both mass asbestos and complex silicosis litigation. He also has extensive experience in working with doctors and other medical experts in developing medical defenses to personal injury toxic tort allegations. Most recently in the matter of Henry Dumolin, C.A. 40-228 in the Twenty-Fifth Judicial District Court for the State of Louisiana, Mr. Stout obtained a defense verdict after a one week jury trial in which the parties stipulated to the medical diagnosis of mesothelioma in the opening statement.
Mr. Stout is the firm's coordinator for all pro bono matters, including the New Orleans Pro Bono Project.
