DK&S Attorney to Head Islamic Law Forum

– Michael L. McMillan, an attorney in the Hattiesburg, Mississippi, office of Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles, was recently appointed by the American Bar Association's Chair-Elect of International Committees to chair the ABA's Islamic Bar Forum. The purpose of the forum is to foster a better understanding of Islamic law and how it interacts with Western law among ABA members and the larger legal community.
Mr. McMillan is active in the area of international law, having recently represented an international transportation company on that company’s business expansion into the Country of Iraq. Working with the post-Hussain government, he was able to successfully navigate developing Iraqi business regulations and provide the transportation company with legal guidance for its business operation in Iraq. He has served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Reserve, and he is a member of the Partners for Stennis Space Center (Military Affairs Committee), the Area Development Partnership (Military Liaison Committee), Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Mississippi Historical Society. Mr. McMillan is also an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at William Carey University.
