DK&S Attorneys Speak on Brain Trauma Cases

NEW ORLEANS, LA. – Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles' partners Robert E. Kerrigan Jr., John Jerry Glas, Isaac H. Ryan, David K. Groome Jr., and Jonathan M. Walsh will be speakers at their popular "Fundamentals of Brain Trauma Cases" CLE on October 18, 2007, in New Orleans.  They will be joined by guest speakers who have experience evaluating, treating and investigating neurological injuries.

This one-day seminar is designed for attorneys and legal staff, insurance professionals, risk managers and claims adjusters who are involved in the handling of personal injury matters.  It will teach how to debunk popular juror perceptions from film and television, build crucial skills for the analysis of diagnostic images and cartography, conduct cross-examination of neuropsychologists and neurologists, implement a new strategy for handling economists, and tackle ethical challenges regarding investigation and surveillance.


Robert E. Kerrigan Jr. is the head of the Civil Litigation Department at the law firm of Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles in New Orleans. He is a member of the International Academy Of Trial Lawyers and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Kerrigan has more than 30 years of experience in trying a variety of complex cases in many fields, including death, spinal cord and brain injury cases. He has lectured at educational and legal conferences on catastrophic injury claims, defense tactics and controlling damages.

John Jerry Glas is a partner at the law firm of Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles. He received his M.A. degree in philosophy from the University of Toronto and his law degree from Louisiana State University. Before joining the firm, Mr. Glas served as an assistant district attorney for the Parish of Orleans. He has lectured nationally on the cross-examination of neurologists and neuropsychologists, and has tried to verdict four brain injury jury trials in the last four years.

Isaac H. Ryan is a partner at the law firm of Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles. He received his B.S. degree in finance from the University of Southern California and his law degree from Louisiana State University. Before joining the firm, Mr. Ryan served as a law clerk for Justice Jeannette Theriot Knoll for three years on both the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals and the Louisiana Supreme Court.

David K. Groome Jr. is a partner at the law firm of Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles. He received his B.A. degree in History from Tulane University, and his law degree from Louisiana State University. Before joining the firm, Mr. Groome served as an assistant district attorney for the Parish of Orleans. He is experienced in handling vocational rehabilitation counselors and analyzing life care plans.

Jonathan M. Walsh is a partner at the law firm of Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles. He received his M.A. degree in French literature from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from Tulane University. Before joining the firm, Mr. Walsh was a local plaintiff attorney, and he has experience handling brain trauma and medical malpractice cases. He is a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve.
