DK&S Attorney Speaks on Land Use

GULFPORT, MS – Victor J. Franckiewicz, Jr.a partner in Deutsch, Kerrigan and Stiles' Gulfport, Mississippi, office–will be a presenter at an upcoming "Land Use Law: Current Issues in Subdivision, Annexation and Zoning" seminar to be presented by the National Business Institute in both Gulfport and Jackson.  His topics include "Be Alert to the Legal and Practical Considerations of Annexation" and "Stay on Top of Environmental Considerations."  The Gulfport seminar will be held on November 5, 2007, and the Jackson seminar will be held on November 7, 2007.

Franckiewicz entered the legal field from a public sector career, having served in the Mississippi Senate (1989 - 1993) and as Mayor of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi (1985 - 1989). He holds a Master in City Planning degree from MIT, and has had executive management experience in construction, zoning, environmental regulation, employment and labor matters, and economic development. Franckiewicz served as President and CEO of one of the nation's oldest governmental research organizations.  He prepared Mississippi's coastal zone management program, drafted the enabling legislation, and wrote its wetlands regulations. He also worked in private industry and was responsible for long-range facilities planning at Lockheed Martin in New Orleans.  His practice includes advising clients on land use matters, as well as representation in administrative and appellate proceedings.

This Land Use seminar is one of several that Franckiewicz is participating in this year.  On September 6, he spoke at the "Land Use and Zoning Law Litigation" seminar, and on June 22, he spoke at the "Mastering Land Use and Planning Processes" seminar.
